Mitsubishi Motor Types
By title MITSUBISHI engines not much to say, as the name of the other engines firms (of course, except for TOYOTA and NISSAN).
The first digit in the name of the engine MITSUBISHI says about the number of cylinders. Examples: 4D56; 6G72; 3G83; 8A80.
The next letter gives some information on the type of engine:
A or G - petrol engines (what the difference between them is not clear). Examples: 4G15, 8A80, 6G72.
D - diesel with mechanically controlled high pressure fuel pump (high pressure pump). Examples: 4D56; 4D55.
M - diesel engine with electronically - controlled injection pump. Examples: 4M40; 4M41.
The last two digits indicate the affiliation of the engine to the engine series. Engines having the same name (and thus belonging to the same series), have a similar structure, but may differ in the degree of force, the working volume, the method of filling the working mixture. However, 4G13 and 4G15 engines have matching names working volume: at first it 1.3 liters, and in the second it is equal to 1.5 liters.
Older engines MITSUBISHI (development before 1989) could not be the first digit in the title, shows the number of cylinders, but had a letter at the end (it means - not known), with the name becomes similar to the name of engines SUZUKI. Example: G13B (carburetor, 4-cylinder engine with 3 valves per cylinder).
